This statement outlines Drug Free Australia’s policy on how we use and manage personal information provided via the Save Your Brain (SYB) website.

It follows the Australian Privacy Principles (APP) contained in the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.

What kind of personal information does the SYB website collect and how is it collected?

The type of information collected includes (but is not limited to) personal information offered by website users, via online forms. That is from:

• teachers/parents/carers/students who access the resource

• education providers including alcohol and drug education facilitators / researchers; and

• other people who contact the website.

How will the personal information you provide be used?

The use of personal information collected via online forms will be used to inform feedback for a continuous improvement process and SYB resource updating. The aim is to provide a current, relevant and age-appropriate teaching and learning resource for teachers, parents, carers and students. Information may also be collected to enable subscriptions to DFA’s monthly e-bulletin.  All information will be collected by consent only.

Disclosure of personal/sensitive information

Drug Free Australia will only disclose personal information according to the purpose indicated on the online form or that required by law.

Updating personal information

Drug Free Australia aims to ensure that the personal information it holds is accurate, complete and up-to-date. A person may seek to update their personal information via contact with the SYB website at any time. A verification process may be required.

Changes to this policy

Drug Free Australia may, from time to time, review and update this Privacy Policy to take account of new laws and technology, to ensure it remains appropriate to the changing education environment.
